Reading, Ohio
Reading, Ohio, was founded in 1797 by Abraham Voorhees, who named it after his hometown of Reading, Pennsylvania. Originally a small farming settlement along the Mill Creek, it grew steadily throughout the 19th century due to its fertile land and proximity to Cincinnati. The arrival of the canal and later the railroad spurred industrial and population growth. Reading became known for its thriving manufacturing and commercial activity, eventually incorporating as a city in 1932. Today, it retains its historic charm while serving as a close-knit suburban community with a strong sense of tradition and easy access to Greater Cincinnati.
